The City of Owen Sound has a population of more than 21,000 and is located on the southern shores of Georgian Bay. There are two river systems that run through the city; the Sydenham River and the Pottawatomi River; several parks throughout the city as well as a beach; Kelso Beach.

Owen Sound has a nice downtown core and features some specialty shops, coffee shops and restaurants. On the east end you will find the mall, several big box stores with a variety of franchise establishments as well as fast food restaurants while in the west end you can find the movie theatre, bowling alley, more big box stores and several car dealerships.

There are no shortage of attractions in and around Owen Sound some of which are Inglis Falls, Harrison Park, Kelso Beach, Grey Roots Museum and Archives and the Billy Bishop Home and Museum to name a few.

One of Owen Sound's most famous sons was William Avery "Billy" Bishop. He was one of Canada's leading pilots in World War I known as a flying ace and the winner of the Victoria Cross. He was also one of the few to have tangled with the Red Baron and survived, forcing the German pilot to retreat in a damaged aircraft. The Billy Bishop Regional Airport was of coursed named after him and can be found just outside of the City limits. You can also visit the Billy Bishop Home and Museum. Another important landmark in Owen Sound is the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre - home of the Owen Sound Attacks - named after the famous NHL Hall-of-Fame goal tender, Harry Lumley, who was also a resident.

The Owen Sound Hospital is one of six hospitals in the Grey Bruce Health Care Services group and provides excellent care. There are also several specialty doctors in Owen Sound to assist with specialized care. This combination makes it convenient to stay within the community for all your health care needs.

There are no shortage of housing options available, Owen Sound has different pockets throughout the community featuring century homes with lots of charm and character, single family homes of all shapes and floor plans and also a rural community just on the outskirts of town. Owen Sound has housing options for everyone all with the convenience of a friendly City on the shores of Georgian Bay.

A typical summer day in Owen Sound could easily consist of a stop at the farmers' market, a leisurely lunch on the patio of a corner bistro, a gander through the Tom Thomson Memorial Art Gallery, a stroll on the beach and then on to dinner and a movie! Now that's City living at its best!
